Your first round
- Begin on Easy and submit three different available symbols.
- Use Exact plus Misplaced to learn how many of those symbols occur in the secret.
- Change positions or replace a symbol to test a clear hypothesis, then submit another complete guess.
- Before each later guess, compare it against every earlier row and reject contradictions.
Worked example
Interpret the whole row
Suppose a three-symbol secret is A, B, C and you guess A, C, D. The feedback is 1 exact and 1 misplaced: A is in place, C belongs elsewhere, and D is absent. In actual play you see only the counts, so you must deduce which symbols caused them.
Build your strategy
- A row with zero exact and zero misplaced eliminates every symbol in that row from the secret.
- On Easy, three total matches means the right symbols are present and only their ordering remains.
- On repeat-enabled tiers, distinguish evidence about a symbol’s presence from evidence about how many copies it has.
Common mistakes
- Reading the feedback counts as position-by-position markers.
- Making a new guess that cannot produce the feedback already recorded for an earlier row.
Try this next
On Easy, write a short reason for each replacement or rearrangement. Move to Medium when you can track both symbol membership and position.
